SHIBUYA AWARDS is pleased to present Echo, a touring exhibition featuring award-winning artists from SHIBUYA AWARDS 2025, currently on view at Laboratory12, a café-integrated gallery space in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo.

This exhibition extends the trajectory of artists selected through SHIBUYA AWARDS beyond the original exhibition context in Shibuya, relocating their practices into a new urban environment. Rather than simply presenting awarded works, Echo explores how artistic expression evolves through movement, space, and audience engagement.

While each artist operates through a distinct visual language, their works coexist within a shared space, generating new layers of meaning through dialogue and contrast.

About the Title “Echo”

The title Echo refers to the resonance of artistic expression beyond its point of origin.

Emerging from the urban context of Shibuya, the works are recontextualized within Shimokitazawa, a neighborhood with a different cultural rhythm.
In this transition, the artworks are not static objects but active participants in a shifting relationship between space, viewers, and time.

This exhibition positions itself not as a presentation of results, but as a continuation of artistic processes initiated through the award.

Curatorial Framework

This exhibition is a collaborative project between Ryusuke Inoue, owner of Laboratory12, and Norifumi Yoneda, Representative Director of SHIBUYA AWARDS.

It reflects an ongoing effort to rethink how contemporary art circulates within urban environments, creating sustained opportunities for artists beyond the award structure.
